Account Management

This guide covers managing your CIQ Portal user account settings and security.

Creating an Account

Visit https://portal.ciq.com and create an account using:

  • Email and password: Register with your email address and choose a password
  • GitHub SSO: Sign up using your GitHub account
  • Google SSO: Sign up using your Google account

After registration, you'll receive a verification code via email. Enter this code to confirm your account.

During signup, you can also create a shared organization. See Creating an Organization for details.

Joining an Organization

Creating an account does not automatically add you to a shared organization. You need an invitation from an organization admin. See Joining an Organization.

Profile Settings

Access your profile at https://portal.ciq.com/settings/profile by clicking your initials in the upper right corner and selecting "Profile."

Display Name

Edit your display name, which is visible to organization admins, CIQ, and in email communications.

Email Address

Change your account email. A confirmation will be sent to your new address and a notification to your old address.

Theme

Choose your preferred appearance:

  • Light mode (sun icon)
  • Dark mode (moon icon)
  • System setting (laptop icon): Inherits your OS preference

Security Settings

Two-Factor Authentication

Add an extra layer of security using an authenticator app:

  1. Navigate to your profile settings
  2. Under "Two-Factor Authentication," click to add an authenticator
  3. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (e.g., 1Password, Google Authenticator, Authy)
  4. Enter the verification code from your authenticator app to confirm

Password Management

  • Change your password: Update your existing password from profile settings
  • Set a password: If you signed up with SSO only, you can set a password to enable email/password login as well

SSO Connections

Manage your single sign-on integrations under "Connections" in your profile:

  • GitHub: Link or unlink your GitHub account
  • Google: Link or unlink your Google account

Connection Requirements

If you don't have a password set, you must maintain at least one SSO connection. Unlinking all connections without a password would lock you out of your account.

Privacy Options

Under "Privacy Options" in your profile settings:

  • Download your data: Export all your user data
  • Sign out other sessions: Sign out from all other active sessions
  • Delete your account: Permanently delete your account data
