Warewulf Pro 1.2.0 (Jan 2026)

Released 2026-01-15.

Highlights

  • Multi-arch node images are now built and published as part of Warewulf Pro. Every Pro node image is now available for both x86_64 and aarch64.
  • Apptainer is now built as part of Warewulf Pro. Previously distributed alongside Warewulf Pro; now an integrated part of the build.
  • Warewulf upgraded to v4.6.5. See Warewulf changes below.
  • Chrony overlay now forces synchronization with makestep on first boot, useful when nodes boot with a wildly-wrong clock.
  • Cockpit improvements: more detailed error responses for all wwapi calls.

Fixed

  • Cockpit: tag, IPMI tag, and netdev tag ordering is now stable (no more spurious reordering on save).
  • Cockpit: UI shows an error icon for tags with duplicated keys.

Warewulf changes

Pro v1.2.0 ships Warewulf v4.6.5, which includes:

  • New wwctl overlay info command for inspecting which variables, tags, and resources an overlay reads.
  • Cross-architecture support for wwclient (wwclient.aarch64 and wwclient.x86_64 overlays).
  • Improved IPv6 support throughout the platform (Ipaddr6, Gateway6, range6).
  • Better handling of bonded network interface configurations.
  • New systemd-networkd overlay for networking configuration.
  • Renamed debian.interfaces overlay to ifupdown.
  • Fixed wwctl image import --update functionality.
  • Fixed warewulf-dracut issues affecting provision-to-disk operations.
