Post-Installation Guide | Enrolling and Updating RLC Pro AI

First Boot Setup

After booting your newly installed or deployed RLC Pro AI system, a few setup tasks ensure that your server is properly enrolled, entitled, and updated. A freshly deployed system reminds you of these steps in the login message of the day:

To activate CIQ package repositories and products please run the following:
    - sudo depot login -u <USER>  -t <TOKEN>
    - sudo depot list
    - sudo depot enable <PRODUCT_NAME>

    Obtain your token from portal.ciq.com

Depot Login and System Enrollment

  1. Log in to your RLC Pro AI server using the username and password you created during installation or deployment.

  2. Authenticate your system with CIQ's Depot service, using the user string and token from your Portal access token page:

    sudo depot login -u <DEPOT_USERNAME> -t <TOKEN>

  3. Verify available products:

    sudo depot list

    PRODUCT_ID | PRODUCT_NAME                | ENABLED
rlc-ai-9   | Rocky Linux 9 from CIQ - AI | no

Enable Entitlements

  1. Enable access to the RLC Pro AI product entitlement:

    sudo depot enable rlc-ai-9

    Created DNF configuration: /etc/yum.repos.d/depot-rlc-ai-9.repo
Product "rlc-ai-9" has a post-enable script:

    Note

    The post-enable script disables the default Rocky Linux repository files (rocky*.repo) that shipped in the image. This is expected: after enablement, your system receives all of its packages, including the Rocky Linux base packages, through authenticated CIQ Depot repositories instead.

  2. Confirm successful enablement:

    sudo depot list -e

    PRODUCT_ID | PRODUCT_NAME                | ENABLED
rlc-ai-9   | Rocky Linux 9 from CIQ - AI | yes

Update RLC Pro AI with DNF

Once your system is enrolled and entitled, use DNF to manage software packages. CIQ's Depot service provides access to the Rocky Linux base repositories plus the CIQ repositories that make up the RLC Pro AI stack.

  1. List configured repositories:

    sudo dnf repolist

    Run repository commands with sudo

    The Depot-managed repository configuration is readable only by root. Running dnf repolist as a regular user shows only the public ciq-depot-client repository, which can make it look like enablement failed. Use sudo for repository and update operations.

  2. Check for updates across all repos:

    sudo dnf check-update

    The first transaction after enablement prompts you to import the CIQ package signing key:

  3. Apply all updates to your system:

    sudo dnf -y update

Automatic refresh

The depot client installs a systemd timer that refreshes enabled product configurations every 7 days, keeping repository definitions current without manual intervention:

systemctl list-timers depot-refresh.timer
