Warewulf Pro

Warewulf Pro is a CIQ product based on the open-source Warewulf cluster provisioning system. It bundles Warewulf with commercial extras built for production HPC environments: a web interface for day-to-day management, pre-built node images tuned for common workloads, supplementary configuration overlays, bundled Apptainer, and access to professional support.

Use Warewulf Pro when you want the speed and statelessness of upstream Warewulf with the operability and confidence of a supported product.

What's in the bundle

Warewulf Pro includes:

  • Warewulf - the upstream cluster provisioning server, repackaged for CIQ-supported deployment. May include bugfixes ahead of upstream releases.
  • Web interface - a Cockpit-based UI for managing nodes, profiles, overlays, and images visually. See Web interface.
  • Pro overlays - pre-built configuration overlays for apptainer, chrony, fuzzball-substrate, openpbs, and slurm. See Pro overlays.
  • Pro node images - turn-key compute node images for OpenHPC, Slurm, OpenPBS, and Fuzzball Substrate, with multi-arch support (x86_64 and aarch64). See Pro node images.
  • Apptainer - CIQ-packaged Apptainer for HPC containerization, pre-installed in OpenHPC-derived images. See Apptainer.

Getting started

Sign up at portal.ciq.com, then follow the Getting Started guide to enable the Depot repository and install Warewulf Pro.

For the Warewulf server itself - configuration, provisioning flow, overlays, troubleshooting - see the upstream Warewulf documentation. This documentation focuses on what Warewulf Pro adds on top.

Use cases

Warewulf Pro is ideal for:

  • Production HPC clusters that need the operability of a web UI and the safety of a supported product
  • OpenHPC-based deployments that want a turn-key Slurm or OpenPBS image rather than building one from scratch
  • Mixed-architecture clusters (x86_64 + aarch64) that benefit from pre-built multi-arch images
  • Air-gapped or regulated environments that mirror packages through CIQ Depot
  • Teams new to Warewulf that want a faster on-ramp with training, support, and reference architecture

Support

Professional support for Warewulf Pro is included with the product. If you have a support contract, file a case through the CIQ Portal; see the FAQs for details.
